Honored to Be Featured on Sonic Tapestries: A Deep Dive into Green Green Earth

I’m incredibly grateful to be featured on Sonic Tapestries, a publication that explores the intersection of field recording, deep listening, and the natural world. In this thoughtful feature, Mat Eric Hart dives into the inspiration and process behind my latest album, Green Green Earth, and we had the chance to discuss how sound, place, and presence intertwine in my work.

The feature begins with a poetic reflection: “How do you capture the luminous glow of sunlight beneath a living leaf?” This question speaks directly to the heart of Green Green Earth—an album that seeks to evoke the stillness of nature and invite listeners into a space of connection and contemplation. Through layered field recordings, organic instrumentation, and a meditative approach, the album is both an homage to and a resonance with the landscapes that shaped it.

In our conversation, I share insights into my recording process, the role of eco-acoustic music in my work, and the spaces that inspire me—like the ancient redwood forests and the Eloise Butler Bird Sanctuary. We also touch on the tools and techniques I use in my Natural Sound Studio, from my beloved walnut bass flute to the subtle sonic textures captured with cassette loops and portable recorders.

Sonic Tapestries has featured incredible artists exploring deep listening and nature-inspired composition, and it’s an honor to be included alongside them. As an exclusive bonus, Sonic Tapestries is also hosting several of the raw field recordings that helped build the textures of the album, including one that kind of breaks the rules. If you’re interested in the creative process behind Green Green Earth or the philosophy of eco-acoustic music, I invite you to read the full feature and interview here.

A heartfelt thank you to Mat Eric Hart for the thoughtful questions and for providing a space to explore these ideas. Green Green Earth is music for reflection, for slowing down, and for deepening our relationship with the natural world—and I’m grateful for every opportunity to share that vision.
