The Voice of Gold Beach: A Journey Through Sound and Nature

When I first set foot on the rugged shores of Gold Beach, Oregon, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was looking for. But as the waves rolled in, their rhythms whispering secrets of the deep, I felt a profound sense of presence. This wasn’t just a place—it was a voice, a living, breathing ecosystem carrying stories of time, resilience, and interconnectedness. My latest project, Earth Speaks at Gold Beach, is my attempt to capture that voice and share it with you.

Capturing the Sounds of the Northern Pacific Coastline

This album is deeply personal. It’s the result of hours spent immersed in the natural world, listening to its cadences, and reflecting on its messages. Using field recordings gathered along the Northern Pacific coastline, I sought to create an immersive soundscape that mirrors the rhythms of the ocean—its ebb and flow, its quiet power, and its unyielding grace. For me, these sounds are not just a backdrop; they are a reminder of the intricate relationship between humanity and the Earth, an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect.

An Act of Sonic Conservation

More than just music, Earth Speaks at Gold Beach is an act of sonic conservation. At its heart is a desire to preserve and honor the natural world while encouraging mindfulness and relaxation. In a time when the pace of life can feel overwhelming, I hope this album offers a moment of stillness and reflection, a chance to deepen your connection to the environment and to yourself.

As a Minnesota Water Steward and sound artist, I’ve always sought to explore the intersection of art, nature, and ecological advocacy. This project is no exception. It’s a continuation of my journey to use sound as a bridge—a way to inspire care for our fragile ecosystems while fostering personal introspection. Through these recordings, I hope to remind listeners of the beauty and importance of our natural surroundings and the role we all play in protecting them.

Whether you find solace in the gentle crashing of waves or feel inspired by the ocean’s vastness, I hope this album speaks to you as deeply as the shores of Gold Beach spoke to me.
